There is no timeline for analogue terrestrial TV switch-off, Minister of State in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore said. The Prasar Bharati Expert Committee has recommended digitalisation of terrestrial TV operations based on commercial viability, Rathore added. According to Rathore, Doordarshan spends around 29 per cent of its total expenditure annually on terrestrial distribution. Meanwhile, Minister of Information & Broadcasting Arun Jaitley informed the Lok Sabha that until October 2015, Prasar Bharati spent only Rs 41.46 crore (Rs 414.6 million) on modernising Doordarshan out of Rs 237 crore (Rs 2.37 billion) allocated by the government.
