Downloading films, favourite numbers, books and other data from websites has just become more difficult. The Telecom Authority of India (TRAI) has blocked free torrent download sites like The Pirate Bay and Vertor in a bid to curb piracy. However, several netizens feel that users will now use proxies to get past this blocking barrier and download stuff.
Last year, the department of telecommunications (DoT) had blocked file uploading websites like filesonic etc, but they were soon unblocked. Time will only tell whether the present ban will remain permanent or not. The ban has hit torrent users in India hard.
