The OnePlus 2 release date is going to correspond to the Android 5.1 Lollipop update for OxygenOS, says OnePlus. The company issued a statement about the OxygenOS and CM12 update and confirmed that while the CM12.1 which will update the OnePlus One to Android 5.1 is “on its way”, users of OxygenOS will have to wait till the OnePlus 2 launches.
With regard to the CM12.1 update for the OnePlus One, “CM12.1, updated to 5.1, is on its way. We have a preview build that's undergoing factory testing and google certification. You will have it soon.” CyanogenMod is the OS that the OnePlus One shipped with, so users that haven’t flashed to OxygenOS or some other ROM should get the Android 5.1 Lollipop update as an OTA rollout.
OnePlus also commented on the touchscreen problems that have been plaguing owners of the OnePlus One and indicate that they are working on a fix for both OxygenOS and CyanogenMod.
When it comes to the OnePlus 2 release date and the OxygenOS Android 5.1 Lollipop update, it looks like the build will come with the OnePlus 2, but development isn’t a priority. Users of the OxygenOS on the OnePlus One will not get an OTA rollout for the OxygenOS Android 5.1 Lollipop update till the OnePlus 2 launches.
