News Police complaint against Sunny Deol for abuses in 'Mohalla Assi'

A complaint has been filed with the police in Varanasi against popular film star Sunny Deol and director Chandra Prakash Dwivedi over some abuses in their forthcoming film 'Mohalla Assi'.

Complainant Sarvajan Jagruti Sanstha has alleged that not only does it violate moral ethics, but it also shows Varanasi in poor light.

Most importantly, Lord Shiva the reigning deity of Varanasi uses it.
He appears in Sunny Deol’s dream and says: “Bhosri-ke, tu meri sunega yalogon ki?”

Western tourists are depicted as white-skinned drifters, who come seeking spirituality but end up expressing their sexuality. Sakshi Tanwar refers to all female tourists as “randiyan.”

There are scenes of local men making love to female tourists and of local women making love to men tourists.
A local woman tells Sakshi Tanwar that female tourists complain that they feel very hot between the legs while in Varanasi.

The movie seeks to show the darker side of Varanasi .... The soul of the movie is the blending of Hindi abuse “bhosri ke” with the chant ‘Har Har Mahadev...

Mohalla Assi started shooting in 2011 but was stalled due to financial constraints. It has been revived and expected to release this year.

Sunny Deol's Mohalla Assi release stayed by Delhi court

The release of Sunny Deol's film Mohalla Assi has been stayed by a Delhi court. The film had stirred up protests in Varanasi and other parts of Uttar Pradesh after a trailer of the film, with some 'objectionable content' in it, found its way on the internet.

The Chandra Prakash Dwivedi directorial has run into trouble following a trailer that was leaked on the internet about two weeks back. This promo has Sunny Deol, Ravi Kishan, Sakshi Tanwar and other characters in the film mouthing expletives freely. The scene that ended up being the rallying point of most of the trouble is where a man in the garb of Lord Shiva uses several abusive words. The scene has offended 'religious sentiments', it has been alleged.

Earlier, actor Ravi Kishan, who plays a pivotal role in the film, had said that the scene where the person impersonating Lord Shiva uses words like 'ch****ye' and 'bh****ke' could have been shot differently.

Mohalla Assi attempts to portray all that takes place at the Assi Ghat in Varanasi. From showing people freely smoking up to indulging in other unspeakable stuff...

Several FIRs have already been filed against Sunny Deol, who plays a Sanskrit teacher in the film, and the director. Earlier today (June 30), the Bajrang Dal had demanded a ban on the film.
