Consolidation continues to sweep the cinema exhibition sector. After failing in its earlier attempt, PVR Cinemas has restarted talks and is in the final stage of negotiation to acquire DT Cinemas, the wholly-owned subsidiary of real estate developer DLF Ltd. According to an industry source, the deal is expected to be struck at a valuation of Rs 500 crore (Rs 5 billion). The acquisition will strengthen PVR’s presence in the northern region. DT Cinemas runs 29 screens in National Capital Region of Delhi and Chandigarh. Out of this, 18 are in Delhi, eight in Gurgaon and three in Chandigarh.

Well need to see what would be the impact on ticket prices currently i have a DT cinema next to my house & the ticket rates on weekdays evening show are 100 & 130. No complains for DT at they used to keep the theater neat & tidy with cautious staff & good service

Next in line would be their Value Baazaar it would be up for grabs ... low hanging fruit for kishore biyani

I feel PVR don't provide overall good quality movie experience....
Actually I thought multiplexes would provide better quality experience than single screen theatres but they are not...atleast in Mumbai....
They are getting tax incentives from govt but overall experience is not good....
