The winner of the second season of `Cine Stars Ki Khoj' has sent an application to the police alleging that he was cheated by the channel. Piyush Chopra, who won the reality show on Zee Channel, claimed that in spite of the winners being promised a movie launch, he never received any such offer once the show ended. The channel has contested his claims.
According to Chopra's application, the reality show had publicized that the winner would receive a contract with a movie produced by Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited. Chopra, who was declared the winner in March 2007, was even shown as being part of the movie `Pyaar Hai To Keh Do Yes' in the final episode of the season.
“In the months that followed, I signed an agreement with Zee where I was going to be paid retainer fees till the completion of the movie.While I received the payment for nearly two years, no movie has been offered till date,“ said Chopra. He further alleged that despite repeated requests, officials at Zee kept avoiding the issue.
Chopra claims that he has applied to the police for a probe in order to prevent other aspiring stars from being duped. The third season of the reality show is currently being aired and is approaching the semi-final stage.
Pradeep Hejmadi, business head of Zee TV, said, “Since Piyush became popular through the show, he refused to enter into an exclusive agreement with Zee and the negotiations broke down.Due to this, Zee could not proceed with him.“
Sanjay Mali, investigating officer with the Santacruz police, said, “We have received the application from the police commissioner's office and took Chopra's statement. Investigations are under way.“
