The Anil Ambani-led Reliance Group is considering merging the operations of its telecom arms, Reliance Communications and Reliance Telecom, into one entity, two people familiar with the matter said, as the implications of the new unified licensing regime become clearer.

The development follows the government's decision to disallow any telecom licensee or its promoter from holding any equity in another telecom company offering services in the same service area. Reliance Communications offers CDMA services across all 22 circles and GSM in 16, while its wholly-owned unit, RTL, serves the six circles of Orissa, MP, HP, West Bengal and Kolkata on the GSM platform.

After a series of deals involving sharing of common infrastructure, Reliance Jio is all set now to share the network operation center (NOC) of Reliance Communications in the run up to roll out its much awaited 4G services. The sharing of NOC would be the fourth such deal between the two brothers (Mukesh and Anil)within a year. Before this, the two brothers have signed deals to share the telecom tower infrastructure, intra-city optic fiber network and inter-city optic fiber network.

What. They are planning to share the NNOC.

I don't think it would be a better idea. They should have developed their own infra and NOC if they wish to take this business for long.
