Newcomer Reliance Jio has asked telecom regulator TRAI to "impose highest penalty" on Airtel, accusing the latter of grossly exaggerating the value of data in a promotional offer, and giving misleading tariff ads.

Jio has shot-off a letter to the telecom regulator alleging that in so far as the advertisements issued by Airtel for prepaid and postpaid tariff packs are concerned, the unlimited calls and free data being offered by Airtel is in "gross violation of extant telecommunication laws".

Jio has further charged Airtel of misrepresenting the benefits as free unlimited calls without indicating the applicability of Fair Usage Policy (FUP).

It alleged that the free calls under Airtel's Special Tariff Voucher 345 were not really unlimited as Airtel has implemented a FUP of 300 minutes/day or 1,200 minutes/week, post which all calls are chargeable.

They are giving more than anyone has ever given in India. They have extended the offer till 31st March which was supposed to end on 31st December and you are still complaining.

I didn't asked them to extend the offer. they are extending because they need to increase their subscriber base. if you think that they are doing some daan-punya then its your Galetfehmi bhai.

I expect them to stick to their words which they said in written.

Still, bro. We have used a lot of their free data. Whatever they are doing for, either customer or whatever, it's completely free and we are benefiting from it. Airtel is still charging 22 rupees for 50MB 3G data valid for 2 days.

I am again saying you bro just because they are offering free doesn't mean they are doing some favor on us. It cost a lot to acquire customers. They are simply saving that money and luring everyone with free benefits to increase acquisition count and decrease acquisition cost.

They are changing T&C every now and then. So, there is no guarantee they won't become at par with Airtel and Vodafone.

Customers are no fool, bro. The moment they start charging and is not cheaper than others no one will use. Customers are just enjoying their temporary free internet phase.

Same here, I didn't bought Lyf for limited data pack & to share with everyone if I know that within 20 days of purchase this Jio would be available to everyone then I won't buy their phone.

They like thug me, after few days they start running 2 years warranty on their phone after successfully registering next month they start asking you really want extended warranty ? What the hell is this ? I gone with yes and now it's very hard to find Lyf Mobile App itself which is the only way to claim any warranty from Lyf post 1 year.
