The Exynos 8890 was officially unveiled last week; just a couple of days after Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 was introduced in New York. Both SoCs compete against each other and against their other top tier rivals; namely the Kirin 950, the MediTek Helio X20, and, of course, the Apple A9.
Now, according to a performance chart shared by leakster “i Ice Universe”, who has compiled thousands of test results, out of all five chipsets the Exynos 8890 is the most powerful in multi-threading processing, yielding a whopping 7400 points in GeekBench (first column from the right).
The 8890 is followed by Huawei’s Helio X20 with 6500 points, the Kirin 950 (6400 pts.), the Snapdragon 820 (5300 pts.) and lastly the Apple A9, who’s able to top 4436 points. It should be noted that it was to be expected for the A9 to trail behind the Android chipsets as it only has two cores.
These figures represent not only a pretty huge gap of multi-threading performance between all four SoCs aimed at the Android market and the Apple A9, but they also show just how much the next-gen CPUs have improved compared to the high-end chipsets revealed earlier in 2015 (second column from the right): the Helio X10, the Kirin 935, the Snapdragon 810 and the Exynos 7420
