Spice unveils new range of smartphones at competitive prices

Spice, India's mobile internet company, has unveiled a new affordable range of smartphones under the name Spice Stellar.

The new range consists of three smartphones with varied screen sizes that are 3.5, 4 and 5 inches. Also, the company has partnered with NQ Mobile for the security features and termed the range as "˜Secure Android' smartphones.

"We are happy to tie up with NQ Mobile to offer latest solutions on mobile security for the benefit of our customers. This association will go a long way in reinforcing our brand vision of being "˜One step ahead of the needs of the mobile internet society'," said Kunal Ahooja, global head "“ Devices, S Mobility.

In addition, Spice has also bundled these smartphones with free one year data plan in conjunction with Aircel.

The first smartphone is Spice Stellar that features 4-inch capacitive touch display, Wi-Fi Tethering, and Dual SIM (3G+2G).

The Stellar is powered with a 1GHz Snapdragon processor and comes with a 2000 mAh battery. Also, it runs on Android Android 2.3, the company, however said that the smartphone will receive an upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich by the end of this month.

The smartphone boasts a 5-Megapixel camera and a front facing VGA Camera and Dual-Sim capabilities. The Stellar ships with NetQin Antivirus for enhanced security. This device will be available for Rs 9,999.

On the other hand, the Stellar Horizon runs on Android 4.0 ICS and features a large 5-inch display, a 1GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, a 5-megapixel camera, a VGA front facing camera, a large 2250 mAh battery, HSPA support, 512MB RAM, 4GB ROM, Wi-Fi tethering, Dual-SIM capability.

The Stellar Horizon is being positioned as a high end product and is priced at Rs 11,999.

The Stellar Craze is the low-end offering from Spice, which features a 3.5-inch display, a 800MHz processor, a 1420 mAh battery, HSDPA support, Wi-Fi tethering and Dual SIM capability.

The device runs Android 2.3, and is upgradeable to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The Stellar Craze is priced at competitive Rs 6,499.

Recently, Spice launched FLO TV - M 5600, a touch-screen handset that adds an analog TV to users' device to give multimedia experience.
