News Star Network Wants ISL To Be Postponed

Post 2014 FIFA World Cup, football fans in India were eagerly waiting for Indian Super League (ISL) to begin. While it is slated for September, its official broadcast partner Star Network has asked IMG-Reliance to postpone the inaugural season.

The Champions League T20 cricket tournament is likely to start from 7 September. The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has given IMG-Reliance a window of 18 September to 7 December for the eight-team league.

The network which is also the promoter of the football league, does not want the league to clash with the cricket tournament.

IMG-Reliance senior official Priti Srivastava told IANS, "Star has requested us to change the dates of the league. But it will be extremely difficult for us. We are still in talks with Star to find a viable solution."

Yes,because they want to provide dual feed on two channels which isn't possible due to champions leaguet20 and also epl,laliga.So they want to postpone.
I think you are trying to say BCCI is objecting it fearing that cricket will loose its popularity.But it will be unsucessful like badminton league without european and south american stars .

But you got my point Football can be popular and BCCI knows that Football can beat Cricket which already proves during FIFA World Cup which hits massive viewership in India. But what my point is until and unless STAR SPORTS involve in such leagues these leagues can't be explode because STAR SPORTS will does the bidding for BCCI and I hope you understand that one day BCCI and STAR SPORTS will make a Circus of Indian Sports if they keep screwing such leagues.

I think i am the first one to critisize the unholy relationship bcci-star.But atlast huge investment needed for league which star can provide.
And i think ten action telecast indian football league.Noone watches.But european leagues are popular.As of now it isn't threat to cricket trp.

Then STAR SPORTS needs to go for this League if they're investing a lot and forget about CPL T20 Viewership tension they can easily give massive viewership by involving STAR GOLD as STAR GOLD is available in every platform and dishtv having no problem to provide the feed of this channel which they have with STAR SPORTS 2 ;)
Actually experiment wise also it will be a opportunity to see that either people tune Cricket or Football. But if STAR SPORTS screws this League I will be as usual criticize them because if a Broadcaster having money and investing then why they not thinking about its return except screwing that investment :sneaky:
