Sun Distribution Services, the TV distribution arm of Sun TV Network, has accused Kerala multi-system operator (MSO) Asianet Satellite Communications of displacing its channels to undesirable logical channel numbers (LCNs) in the Telecom Disputes Settlement & Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT).

Asianet Satellite Communications told the TDSAT that as on date there is no subsisting placement agreement between the two sides.

It further stated that the displacements, if any, of the channels are made in accordance with the regulations.

Sun Distribution counsel Gopal Jain submitted that the placement of the channels has been changed to the great disadvantage of the distributor.

Jain pointed that the distributor’s channel called ‘Surya’, which was earlier at LCN-107, was shifted to LCN-118 and finally to LCN-648. Similarly, the channel Sun, which was earlier at LCN-200, has been shifted to LCN-210.

The tribunal has put up the matter under the same head for 27 January to enable Asianet counsel to take proper instructions and, if so advised, to file a brief reply on the issue of displacements of channels.

Sun had filed the petition alleging that the MSO had discontinued distributing its signals without any notice and in violation of the regulations.

However, when the case was called out for hearing on 15 January, Jain accepted that after the filing of the petition, the MSO had resumed showing the Sun’s channels on its network.
