Tamil Nadu is leading the chart with a share of over 15 percent in the total of 1.29 crore jobs generated in the registered manufacturing sector across India, industry body Assocham has said. The state is followed by Maharashtra with 14 percent, while Gujarat (10.5 percent), Andhra Pradesh (9 percent) and Karnataka (7 percent) in terms of job generation in registered manufacturing sector across the country in 2013-15, according to a study on 'Assessment of employment in registered manufacturing industry' by Assocham.
Besides, Tamil Nadu (1.2 percent) and West Bengal (0.2 percent) are the lone states that have recorded a positive year-on-year (YoY) growth rate in 2011-12 and 2012-13 in employment generation in the manufacturing sector, while all other states registered a slump in this regard, it said.
