News TV Today gets board nod to up FDI limit to 26%

The board of TV Today Network, the holding company of leading Hindi news channel Aaj Tak and English news channel India Today Television, has approved the proposal to increase the limit of foreign investment in the company to 26 per cent. According the Indian broadcasting laws, a media company with news and current affairs channels in its portfolio cannot have more than 26 per cent foreign direct investment. However, TV Today, which is owned by Living Media India, does not have any holding by foreign institutional investors (FIIs). As of 30 June 2015, promoter company Living Media India owns 56.92 per cent stake, while Aroon Purie owns 0.49 per cent individually.
