Videocon D2H is one of the most popular DTH services in India due to its attractive base packs offering maximum number of channels including regional channels.It is one of the reason that why this dth is so much popular among its customers.But with the passage of time this policy of D2H has started showing its deficiencies.With the passage of time new channels are coming in the market in hindi,english and other languages and this trend will continue to happen in the future.It is also clear that every dth and cable operator will have to add these channels it that want to remain in bussiness other wise they will loss thier customers.They will not ignore newly launched channels for a long time like D2H and other operators are doing.Further the prices of DTH services have now come to their maximum limits and they have become more costlier as campared to cable services.Common man will not be able to afford further increase in the prices of base packs and in my opinion this not the solution which will be welcomed by its customers like me.Now what is the solution of this problem?
In my opinion D2H should stop offering all regional language channels on all india basis from all of its base packs.Instead of that every customer should be offered regional language packs (ONE OR TWO) of their choice on All India basis in all base packs inspite of their region.For example I am presently living in the Punjab.I have subscribed to ROI platinum pack for five years.But in my platinum pack except hindi,english and punjabi language channels all other regional language channels are useless for me.Similar is the case of other customers living in other regions of India.Like for a Tamil person all other regional language packs are useless except Tamil.We are paying for those channels which are useles for us but on the other hand we are not getting those channels which are required to offered on All India basis.The list includes etc,zee premier,zee action,hbo hits,hbo prime and many more.Even we have to wait for one year for addition of star sports 2 and at last it was added with the base price increse of Rs 14.I think similar is going to happen with Max2.Even now the Zindgi is added in platinum pack.Ten cricket is also presdently offered as al carte channel.
Now the time has arrived that d2h should relook its policies.Instead of increasing prices or offering regional language channels on all india basis they should add and offer english and hindi channels in addition to one or two regioal language packs of thier choice.For example i will be happy if i will get all of hindi and english language channels with all future additions with punjabi channels in punjabi language pack.In stead of experimenting with english or hindi channels they should restrict selection of regional language packs to customers of their choice.In this way i think d2h will be able to add new channels in any language without increasing base pack prices.
