Zee Media Corporation Ltd’s (ZMCL) national Hindi news channel Zee News is set to turn free to air (FTA) on 8 June, the company’s distribution partner Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL) has informed cable TV operators. According to a letter issued by ZEEL to affiliate partners, Zee News will be distributed as an FTA channel across all distribution platforms. The company had issued a public notice in English and vernacular newspapers informing the public about the move. With Zee News going FTA, ZMCL will have three FTA channels. Currently, India 24×7 and Zee Purvaiya, a Bihar-focused channel, are the only FTA channels.
