ZEEL to shutter 9X and Zee Premiere, plans to launch Zee Café HD

In a bid to cut some flab, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL) is planning to shut two of its channels, namely Hindi general entertainment channel (GEC) 9X and Hindi movie channel Zee Premiere. 9X and Zee Premiere will cease operations from 13 and 15 April respectively, a source said. Both 9X and Zee Premiere are pay channels priced at Rs 10.99 and Rs 6.42 respectively. Even as it is shutting two channels, the entertainment major plans to launch a new channel called Zee Café HD. The English general entertainment channel is currently available in standard definition (SD).
