Already delivering innovative, custom made products and services to almost 500 operators in 140 countries ZTE launched industry’s first LTE BeamHop Solution and demonstrated the LTE A8808 Active Antenna System (AAS) product based on the technology in Mobile Asia Expo.

The A8808 consists of both active and passive antennas. Existing 2G and 3G antennas will be replaced by the passive part while the active part will cover for the newly added LTE network. The necessity to purchase an additional antenna site space has been ruled out as LTE radio unit is integrated in the existing antenna. The step by LTE offers double benefit to the companies, as it not only maximizes company’s resources but also save it from the overhead installation costs. Operators are still furthermore befitted as they are spared from the high cost of renting antenna space site.

The new ZTE LTE BeamHop AAS solution enables ‘one deployment, two networks and flexible coverage, said ZTE Vice President Wang Shouchen. The solution will increase the transmission power of the base station and the sensitivity of the receivers, which significantly boosts network capacity and coverage. The BeamHop solution will help operators smoothly transition from 2G and 3G to LTE, without adding new antenna space. In turn, that will greatly reduce construction costs and accelerate commercial progress.

Shouchen added, ZTE is firmly committed to innovation and developing customized solutions; every year ZTE invests 10 percent of revenue in research and development. LTE BeamHop is just one of the many industry-leading technological breakthroughs to be developed as a result of ZTE’s focus on innovation.
