The indigenous tablet maker, Zync, joins the Android 4.0 ICS league with its Z-999 Plus tablet. Priced at Rs 11,990, does this 3G Android 4.0 tablet with video calling feature have enough to entice consumers? Know Your Mobile finds out
Catering to the price conscious Indian market which aches for the 'best for less', the indigenous tablet maker, Zync brings in its latest offering - a 3G Android 4.0 tablet dubbed Zync Z-999 plus. The name probably sounds familiar to you and it's not without a reason. Zync were the first players to launch their low-cost Android 4.0 tablet, Zync Z-990 couple of months ago. The Zync Z-999 plus takes on from where Zync Z-990 left in terms of improvement and features that match the needs and lifestyles of consumers today.
With its latest tablet, the homegrown company has also put more emphasis on bringing longer battery life, improved response, motion gaming to the tablet.
Focusing on the consumer needs the latest tablet showcases a 4200 mAh battery life that provides a backup of 5 hours on gaming and 8-10 hours on regular use. On the memory front, we see a expandable memory of 32GB alongside a standard RAM of 512 MB and a flash memory of 8GB.
They have also improved the touch response of the tablet and utilized a LED screen to improve the brightness of the screen. The high resolution LED screen makes for a ideal experience while reading or watching a movie and even playing games. Talking about gaming, you will notice a improvement from its predecessor thanks to its GPU Mali 400 and 3D graphics OpenGL 2.0.
This 7-inch tablet with a resolution of 800x480 pixels also boasts of 3G calling and data connectivity through an onboard SIM slot - something that many budget tablets lack.
Priced at Rs 11,990, the device measures 8mm- which is slimmest in its category. This makes it highly portable and ideal for everyday use. Powering up the internals of this 340 gm tablet is a 1.5GZ single core ARM Cortex A8 processor.
The camera abilities is nothing to write home about. There is a basic 2-mega pixel back camera and a VGA front facing camera for video chatting and calling.
On the connectivity front there is a inbuilt WiFi for transferring files and other documents with ease.
According to Ashish Garg- Director, Zync Global Private, the Wi-Fi is based on N-series which aids in better battery consumption, which means you can kick off all battery woes.
The tablet also comes equipped with a HD video playback support and HDMI support. The company has tied up with Big Flix and iBibo for movies and includes host of apps including Movie player, BBC news and What’s app messenger among others.
What we like about the product is its after sale service. For Z-999 plus, Zync is offering a one year comprehensive warranty and also a pick up and drop facility in case there is a problem with the device.
The fourth in the Z-series, after Z-909 plus, Z-990 and Z-990 plus, the Z-999 plus is yet another attempt by the company to produce a budget-friendly tablet.
However when compared to Micromax's Funbook or the upcoming Google Nexus 7, we find Z-999 plus a hard sell. The tablet is likely to face the pinch specially post the Nexus 7 release. The quad-core Tegra 3, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean equipped tablet is a force to reckon with.
Clocking at 1.2GHz, the 7-inch Nexus tablet houses a 1280x800 IPS display, 1GB of RAM, and a 12 core GeForce GPU - and the fact that it is priced under $200 ( Rs 10,000) doesn't make for a good case either for other budget tablets.
