Oh...this happened with my friend as well to his Sony TV...looks like extended warranty is better option for sony tv...my samsung LED is safe however from last 4 years...while my Sony LED is yet to complete one year...

I would suggest you to opt extended warranty ASAP. Even my brother purchased 40" Sony LED but his LED is secure with extended warranty

So SONY having faulty panels as some peoples having problem of lines at downside of the screen which irritates and also disturbs the PQ.

Various complaint board and forums are full of such complaints. And it's not restricted to Sony. Other brands too have same complaints.

After studying various logic and calculation, I came to conclusion that.

Average life of a LED TV = 5 years with 4 hour viewing per day.

Now, calculate your LED life as per your viewing.

My Parents daily and me-bro only at weekend(sat-sun) enjoy viewing on Sony Bravia LCD which was purchased on 2011 cric world cup with Videocond2h HD DVR-4611.
we have another multiconnection there of d2h HD STB2011 running on "Match ON Videocon Flat TV" purchased on 2003 world cup.Infact, we realize these TV's don't require HD content as SD contents looks awesome only need DD there.still u love hd on it.
till now it is running in good condition and now I think we'll upgrade or buy new purchase may be in next1-1-1.5yr of 4K tv only there.[Although I seen there internal structure of so called "Flat" Picture tube once in past...it was somehow adjustedo_O there current LED-LCD quality might be good so as economical]

Brother also using Bravia LCD in "another" city . (offourse with d2h HD STB2011)
So both Bravia LCDs are running extremely fine, no probs till now.

As I mentioned earlier, I make use of Dell-AIO LED THX certified with d2hHD STB in "another" city.

So now eagerly waiting for "Videocon d2h 4K UHD DVR-STB", so can upgrade all existing HD STB one by one.[Burden on Pocket:p but 4K Future Ready Factor will regulate it atleast for next so many years;)]
Will keep d2h HD DVR4611 model as it is, atleast for next few years.

I still feel that I shouldn't have sold my Onida Black CRT :(
Personally I liked the quality of Onida Flat TV also in past (it's sound quality is good) but chosen "Videocon Flatron" over it due to extra couple of features(blue-blank sccen at no picture, Tru Bass SRS sound etc)
Later on Onida came under Videocon Brand only ...so as Philips-Sansui got tied up in series.

Onida still belong to M/s Micr Electronics Ltd. where as Philips and Sansui were taken over by Videocon
