the AR 2.35:1 is used to avoid the stretching of the image on a small screen.ganesh bro i think u also need to modify this on tv 2.35:1 would come in smaller screen than 16:9 (i.e. 1.78:1)..
if u dont get it clearly then try adjusting aspect ratio on a video on ur comp screen n see the effect

u can see 1.78:1 in sd and hd both, for example go to max and see movies in sd and go to mtunes hd where songs r in hd in same format.
ur logic is nonsense.
in simple terms if a pic is stretching in lcd tv , then the ch is in 4:3 and if its fine then format is 16:9, the video can b with black bars
