Satellites are not allocated in a month bro. Satellite launch would have been planned only after demand would have risen.
Tata Sky has applied GSAT 10 more than 4-5 years back if I am not wrong.

yeah tata sky applied for gsat-10 after one year of its launch that is in 2007

I think foreign satellite policy created later all old DTH like dishtv, TATA(SKY and SUN DIRECT started our service in Govt. SAT.
But dishtv moved to NSS 6 and TATA(SKY and SUN DIRECT remains with Govt. SAT, SD face power glitch and T(S got less space.
But I won't surprise if T(S didn't get TPs from GSAT 10 in next 1 or 2 years.

d2h is really cute...look at the range of channels they have...and (till pre-HD Access Fee period - can't comment as I have not yet analyzed from that point of view - I am using only a la carte pack) flexible and reasonable pricing. Launch of channels used to happen very fast till the time they had enough space and now also max 2 was added quickly and now this news...hope they get more space as they really try their best with things when it comes price vs offering
