What is that USB kind of thing ?

Usb must be plugged if you want to hear it from earphones...it works on detection of earphone in remote and will mute the TV sound automatically and will start output from earphones as there is no such inbuilt hardware function in STBs to start/stop sound.

Well my set-top box needs a softer ware update for this remote to start working , as and when my set-top box is updated to download id 21 , i would defiantly post a in-depth reviews , as Myself have many concern about the product for now , ie whether high bass treble headphones which I have of jbl which also has 3.5 mm jack , would it work with it and if yes , will it drain out battery in a more speedy manner .Will put out a review as soon i use it for a couple of days

Good point but may be USB recording having limitation tats a reason they thought user won't opt both service together.
