hanuman could have been a messanger but the people celebrated on the day of Ram return.Aakashvaani was available for only Premium peoples that time. For. eg. Mama Kansh
They might have used some (Man) courier system..How people of Ayodhya will knows that Ravan dies from the hands of Lord Ram, those days where no mobile and email
Its a celebration dedicate to him when Lord Ram back to Ayodhya after victory over Ravan and completes his Vanvaas.

Yes and hanuman was the first MR (Medical Representative) from India to Sri Lanka as he took the whole mountain of ayurvedic medicines just to treat wounds of laxmanhanuman was the fastest one
