I used to pay Rs. 270 for analogue cable which gave me hardly 70 channels i watched, others were regional channels . Now if i am paying Rs. 550 to Videocon d2h as i can afford it so i am not only getting about 150 channels that i view be it Hindi, English, Punjabi, etc. plus i am getting 22 HD channels in this package. Now tell me which is good?

Similarly those who can't afford higher packages, they always have the option to choose lower packages containing Hindi GEC, Hindi Movies, Infotainment, Music, Hindi New Channels, Kids Channels at under Rs. 250. What more do u want? I did not get even this muc at this rate in analogue cable

Check the Rs. 225 pack how many channels you're getting from it. Before at Rs. 300 we were supposed to get English channels too.

Bro why r u comparing earlier prices, haven't prices of other things too increased? I used to get Full Bread at Rs. 6 in the 90's now u know what is its price? Well check it out urself. Prices of all things have gone up plus earlier if u were getting English Channels at Rs. 300 then at that time there were very limited channels. In the last 7 years so so many new channels have been added so u can't expect it still to be Rs. 300

My MSO is now giving Star Plus, Life OK, Star Sports 3 & regional channel Star Pravah in base pack & others are now a-la-cart............anyway I don't need these so no worry..........

When war started between them, there was an impression like it would affect only Hathway.......
But later if we see how the things went, all has become more suspicious..........

Its like Hathway acting as a front for Star to create this RIO situation......

Anyway we all know that nothing can satiate hunger for money for these MNCs........
They will keep comparing Indian ARPU with that of American......
There was also a talk about major broadcasters forcing DTH/cable to remove popular GECs from basic packs & thus forcing customers to choose higher packs.

I think maximum of these Indian channels runs FTA in UK, USA but we paid for these, they hire foreign contents and we paid more for those. Indian Broadcasters are still behind in many sense but they're not raising bar any ways by content wise. They considering more channel as a path of revenue and HD channels a premium property. Why atleast STAR not taking initiative to move away get rid from SD channels shutdown those and ask operators to carry their HD service only why they ask viewers to subscribe everything why they keep launching new channels for same thing which can view at one channel only at one time at every way these Broadcasters captured us.

More Channels + Hike of Prices still if we want best content then subscribe the Premium Tag channel extra.
