But I dont mind if they add 4-5 hd channels and the price of hd access fee increases to 150 ;) :p :D
You will understand the real effect if these newly added channels are not part of your existing subscribed pack. Then it will hurt as you will need to start paying extra for nothing

UHD4k, Curved UHD TV, 3d TV, Blue Ray 3D all at a nascent stage. though its commercially produced & distributed but it will still take some time for these technology to build substantial base get popular among masses. The only breakthrough with developer got in TV technology was launch of HDTV CES in the year 1998 it took good 10 to 12 years since then to get the technology evolved and get commercially viable & popular.

Following technology has been launched in CES & my personal rating of the success rate

· Videocassette recorder (VCR), 1970- Very Successful – Dominated 80 & 90 era

· Laserdisc Player,1974- Very successful – Failure

· Camcorder, 1981- Successful

· Compact Disc Player, 1981- Very Successful

· Digital Audio Technology, 1990- Successful

· Compact Disc Interactive, 1991- Failure

· Mini Disc, 1993- Failure

· Digital Satellite System, 1994- Very Successful

· Digital Versatile Disc (DVD), 1996- Very Successful

· High Definition Television (HDTV), 1998- Very Successful

· Hard-disc VCR (PVR), 1999- VCR was not successful –DVR now getting successful

· Digital Audio Radio (DAR), 2000- Not successful

· Microsoft Xbox, 2001- Very Successful

· Plasma TV, 2001- Successful

· Home Media Server, 2002- Failure

· HD Radio, 2003- failure

· Blu-ray Disc, 2003- Successful

· HDTV PVR, 2003- failure

· IP TV, 2005- Successful

· An explosion of digital content services, 2006- Very successful

· OLED TV, 2008- wait & watch

· 3D HDTV, 2009- not successful

· Connected TV, Smart Appliances, Android Honeycomb, - not successful

· Ultra HDTV, curved Flexible OLED- wait & watch

So buying a UHD can burn a big hole in your pocket both in terms of hardware & software rather being a early adopter we should wait patiently for the technology to stabilize & develop an ecosystem which is commercially viable.
