Less contents and because hardware is only UHD ready not a full UHD hence they're also not serious about the launching might be just for name sake they take a step forward.
I think that's the hitch as its said that UHD specs are still not finalised.....So by the time final specs are out & products started shipping based on that, this 4k STB would have become obsolate.....

UHD is in the nascent stage and already the world has adopted the technology, in this year end shows like blacklist and movies from sony would give the 4k content.

There is a huge difference I see between how cable to digital feed (SD) to HD and now HD to UHD transition is happening. Earlier the predecessor matured before next technology innovations arrived. At presently there are just 40 odd HD channels in India with major channels yet to launch in HD version and just 20-25 HD channels available on DTH platform vs earlier situation where 200 channels in SD were there and HD channel launch (with a lot of innovations - 16:9 aspect ratio, Dolby Digital Sound, 1080i picture etc) happened. This time HD is yet to mature, space for HD channels not available and UHD getting launched.

May be there is tie up between TV manufacturers and DTH/Sports broadcaster to promote their UHD TV sale, rather than anything else. For now I don't think launching 10HD channels would have been less beneficial for Tata Sky than lauching UHD box if direct subscription income from customers is taken into account, but they chose to go for latter. Reasons could be lying in the tie up than in direct subscription charge collection.

Dear All, my friend from Mumbai has sent me the exclusive pics of the 4K UHD STB. Which I already posted yesterday here.
My friend will soon send me more pics of 4K UHD STB, UI, settings, Nav Bar, SD channels and HD channels. I will share it here.
He has got the pics from a local dealer in Mumbai.

Meanwhile I will explore my locality too, I have a good friend who has a TV shop and he also sells DTH/Cable STB. So i will visit him soon and ask him more details about the 4K UHD STB.

:) :D

I guess Tata Sky & Videocon are the first to launch India's first 4k stb. Also, as the launch has been timed just before the ICC World Cup, I am hoping they cover it in 4k. The viewing experience of 4k at a resolution of 3840 x 2160, which is 4 times the pixels of full HD will provide greater clarity and more vivid colors on screen. Enjoy all your favorite shows and sporting events in 4k clarity.
