Videocon has completed deal with Media Pro and ESS 4-5 months back. So, may be they would have charged less.
Also I read somewhere that Videocon is the charging lowest carriage fee among all DTH operators and hence able to grab so many HD channels.

videocn d2h is making high losses by charging less, earlier they were a doomed business as noone was buying d2h till 2011 mid, after that they changed their strategy and started adding more channels by keeping lowest rates, very soon now they will increase rates once they r no. 2 in subscriber base. they cannot sustain at such low rates.
im bhai d2h added many chs like z cinema hd, z studio hd and others too not bcoz channels paid them carriage, it was added on basis of customer demand and d2h went to channel to work out a deal. d2h has to pay high charges for all hd channels and most sd channels

Yes Dino bhai. There are many example to prove that d2h took customers demand and request on priority and added channels. Movies OK, Zee Cinema HD, Zee Studio HD, Zee Classic, 9XM and many others were added due to huge demand of customers.
But simultaneously I gt info that All Zee HD channels were sold bouquet wise to Videocon d2h. Zee TV was added 1st followed by TEN HD and later Zee Cinema & Zee HD. No doubt they would have paid a hefty amount as HD channels are priced very high.
And as you said, d2h will have to charge more to come out of losses and make a Break even. But at this stage their core priority is to increase the Customer base and grab opportunity of digitization.

ESPN Star(Now Star) vs Cable Operators and these days Star against DTH Operators.
They have always demanded high subscription fees.
Remember Asianet vs ESPN Star and few other MSO's too.
It has been going on for many years.Star has always been greedy.
Dont think it will change any time soon now that they have a monopoly on Sports Coverage.

wht can star do, they have bought rights at such rates bcoz of money suckers at bcci, they have to recover all that. plus running hd channel is very costly
