When Multiplexes were launched everyone said its a next big thing as they shadowed the old class theatres but since Multiplex chain keep merging which each other showing that even business wise they're also making losses and interest power is decreasing.

PVR wants to purchase the multiplexes as they want to show that they are n0.1

As multiplex idea was there only and since many competitors started the group aggressively but later turned out from it from all that if PVR acquiring chains then its good for those.

Update : PVR calls off deal with SPI Cinemas over high valuation

After months of negotiation, multiplex major PVR Cinemas has shelved the acquisition deal with South Indian multiplex player SPI Cinemas.

According to industry sources, PVR Cinemas was in advanced talks to acquire the highly profitable SPI Cinemas that runs Sathyam, Escape, S2 Cinemas, The Cinema, and Luxe. However, the valuation of over Rs 1,000 crore (Rs 10 billion) was a deterrent. Land would have been part of the deal.
