This has become a common thing now. Everytime Star goes is court and court allows to DD 
SC allows DD to telecast WC for free

Star must be fumbling now as it cant appeal anywhere as SC itself ruled in favour of DD

There is no reason to pay Thousands of Crore Rs. if they give such excuse it should be rejected. If they wants to recover the amount of UHD then better not produce such events. Star acquired the rights of ICC by paying thousands of time more then their competitors (competitors are already short listed by ICC), producing matches in UHD (only 5% - 10%) are enjoying in UHD tat too in LCD and LED. So basically conclusion is Star is wasting money if they care about refunds.
And I liked to see no takers of BCCI rights SUNIEL Bro. If Star quits the rights then only glorious days of DD will be back and it would also be a set back for arrogant BCCI. Time has come where all Sports channels should share imp events rights with DD National in terrestrial and DD Sports and DD HD in Satellite. I want to see pubcaster to grow more then these corporate broadcasters.

Agree..........But that means they are making money from both side, charging 5 lakh per 10 sec ad slot & also by almost doubling subs rate..................and subscription rate
Other way, whats bad if people who are ready to throw money can help others to watch WC FTA.....................

This is just a simple 90's market economics................
but doesn't work in this era of globalization...........That's why STAR officials are dreaming of increasing ARPU to almost Rs 500..............

There is a huge black money involved nowhere days behind broadcasters of all groups and Star is the biggest example if we become sad and start thinking about Star's profit then one thing is for sure weather they will make profit or loss (according to papers) they will purchase the rights any how.
Currently in Cricket, Star buying rights of ICC and BCCI only, since they have constitutional power to owe Aus and Eng Home Broadcasting rights. Basically in BCCI last time only Star and Sony able to bid and Star bidded in such a high price like they have some RBI Bank at home same things happened with ICC and FIH rights as despite of no competition they throws the huge amount of money to acquires it.
Thing which is notifying here that Star India is "kuber" here but father FIC is struggling to make profit. Here Star India can own leagues, can purchase any kind of rights, can sponsor team by paying 3 crore + per match. Also interesting figure which they give that their channel are available in chavanni, athanni price per day even 2 - 3 DTH providing SS for free wonder how Star is earning money if they're not using black money and their expenditure is so much high as their Father Fox is becoming old.
