But it was told that they have reduced the number of days from 90 to 60 days for pre booking

yup but i think they quietly increased it to 90 days.

Here are 25 passenger friendly announcements made in the Rail Budget:

* No increase in railway passenger fares

* A mobile application to address complaints of people

* 'Operation 5 minutes' to ensure that a passenger travelling unreserved can purchase a ticket within 5 minutes

* SMS alert services for passengers to inform them about arrival and departure of trains

* Modern facilities for disabled citizens, senior citizens, patients through IRCTC

* 24 to 26 coaches in certain identified trains, more general class coaches, ladders to be replaced

* In 400 stations Wi-Fi facility will be provided

* All India 24 X 7 helpline 138 from March 1; Toll free No.182 - for security complaints

* Introduction of integrated ticketing will be done, a defence travel system has been developed to make travel easier

* Replacement of 17,000 more toilets with bio-toilets to be undertaken this year

* Surveillance cameras on select mainline and ladies compartments to be installed

* Cleanliness in railways highest priority under 'Swachh Rail Swachh Bharat'

* Travel between Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Kolkata to be an overnight journey

* ISRO to be involved, 3,438 level crossings to be eliminated

* Paperless ticketing, hand-held device for TTEs to be introduced

* All newly-manufactured coaches to be braille-enabled

* Online booking for wheel chairs to be enabled

* The facility of self-operated lockers would also gradually be made available at stations

* Collaboration with NIFT and NID for better bed rolls, inner coach designs

* Rs 120 crore provided for lifts and escalators to facilitate movement of passengers and goods

* To expand water vending machines to most railway stations to ensure availability of clean drinking water at very low cost to people

* Middle bay of coaches will be reserved for women and senior citizens for reasons of safety

* TTEs would be instructed to help senior citizens, pregnant women and differently-abled people in obtaining lower berths

* Toilets at stations need improvement; 650 additional toilets to be created in addition to 120 last year
* New department to keep stations clean

Highlights of Rail Budget 2014

• Fare revision will bring in Rs.8,000 crore; need another Rs.9,000 crore for golden quadrilateral project.
• Railways also proposes to set up Food Courts at major stations.
• Separate housekeeping wing at 50 major stations.
• CCTV to monitor cleanliness activities.
• Mechanized laundry will be introduced.
• Dedicated freight corridor on Eastern and Western corridors.
• 5400 unmanned level crossing removed.
• Tourist trains to be introduced to link all major places of tourist interests across the country.
• 4,000 women constables to be recruited to ensure safety of women. 17,000 RPF constables to provide safety to passengers.
• Setting up of Railway University for technical and non-technical study.
• Ultrasonic system to detect problem in track.
• Proposal to start Bullet trains on Mumbai—Ahmedabad route. Speed of important trains will be also raised.
• Diamond Quadrilateral project of high speed trains to connect all major metros.
• Wifi in A1 and A category stations and in select trains. Internet-based platform and unreserved tickets.
• GIS mapping and digitization of Railway Land. Extension of logistics support to various e-Commerce Companies.
• Bulk of future projects will be financed through PPP mode.
• Facilitate transport of milk through rail. Special milk transportation trains in association with Amul and National Dairy Association Board.
• One ticket to reach from Delhi to Srinagar. Uddhampur to Banihal by bus and Banihal to Srinagar by train.
• Mumbai local to get 860 new, state-of-the art coaches. 64 new EMUs to be introduced.
• Train connectivity to Char Dham.
• 27 Express trains to be introduced.
• 5 Jansadharan , 5 Premium AC trains to be introduced.

There is no point introducing AC local trains when existing infra is weak to handle & as many times train run late..........I mean common man requires more 'ordinary' local trains which run on time...............
So it would be better to make sure trains run on time than to introduce AC trains which would not be affordable to most people...........

CCTV to monitor cleanness is absolutely insane rule and tats a reason UPA is in vain.

Yeah. It would have been better if track capacity had been enhanced and more normal trains introduced than benefitting Rich people.

There is no point introducing AC local trains when existing infra is weak to handle & as many times train run late..........I mean common man requires more 'ordinary' local trains which run on time...............
So it would be better to make sure trains run on time than to introduce AC trains which would not be affordable to most people...........

And prices would raise if they're bringing AC trains tat too in Locals. Better they give discount money on passes by which they able to achieve some revenue and sure short no. of passengers.

But that will cause less accidents as doors will be closed and people standing near doors will not fall be it an AC local but something less will happen

People stands in door only because they don't have ticket not because of hot. Even if they fit AC many will still hangs to door.
