MUMBAI: New Silk Route-funded 9X Media has received its licence from the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (MIB) to launch Bengali music channel 9X Bangla. TelevisionPost.com was the first to report on the company’s plans to expand its bouquet by launching two regional music channels, 9X Bangla and 9X Odia. In an earlier interaction, 9X Media MD Pradeep Guha had told TelevisionPost.com that the company had applied for licences and was awaiting government approval. “We have applied for licences for two regional-language music channels. We are ready to launch from our side but haven’t got the licences yet,” Guha had said. 9X Media currently boasts a fleet of five channels including 9XM (Hindi), 9XO (English), 9X Jalwa (Classic), 9X Jhakaas (Marathi), and 9X Tashan (Punjabi).
