Airtel Digital TV HD Swindled by Airtel

I guess this will be the final update. Twitter definitely seems to be the best method to reach out to them as I at least got a response to every tweet, unlike e-mailing. They finally called me up 2 days ago after a week of prodding on twitter, though unfortunately it was the same person from the nodal office who had earlier told me that they cannot offer a refund of more than Rs. 300.

This time they were apparently permitted to refund not more than Rs. 700 (I presume the limits flex depending on their convenience). This was a step down from the Rs. 1400 they had offered the first time, but considering the way this was dragging on, I decided to accept it. Even then, I received the refund only today, 2 days after they told me that the amount would be credited.

At the end of the day, I had to forego Rs. 750 towards non-channel costs which I will consider to be my contribution towards their STB and installation. Perhaps with more patience and fighting it might have been possible to get back the entire amount, but I didn't have it in me to drag it any longer or take it to a consumer forum. I am now taking up a 1-year Magnum HD package by putting in an additional 2.4k with the hope that their actual service will be good and that I shall not have to deal with their customer "care" again in the future.

As a word of advice, avoid doing any transactions over phone if possible and always record the calls as things can go wrong due to the incompetence of the executives and you may be the one paying the price for it.

This is the reason these idiots are always dragged to consumer count and there they are coughed to pay.

Not everyone has so much free time to do all this. So, it better to stay away from such foxes.

That's the reason I avoid dealing with Airtel. Because I want peace of mind.
I am convinced that all this happens due to company policy & the mindset of owners. So its better to avoid these kind of people.

I agree with you bro...as they can simply refuse to accept it later. Its always better to take everything on email & record phone conversations while dealing with these people.

Many people did advice you to fight and drag such things for long, DD keeps on airing that how Consumer Forum is easy to use and it is also but these cooperate goons are having points to make they will broke you till half and juice up your energy, ultimately nothing happen at last and we battle and remain lone only tats a reason every person should wish that they become personality or born in a wealthy family with a verified twitter account so whatever problem you're facing just tweet infront of your followers and make it trend and let these goons beg infront of you to resolve their issue.

Ultimately I must agree with a comment of Rahul G ( its a only comment I agree ) that India is divided by 2 one is of poor and one is of celebrity but fact is even the boss family of India can't and won't finish this difference.

Can't believe it has been over a year already. The least I can say about Airtel is that they have been consistent in giving me a bad time and things have ended as they had begun. To recollect, I had purchased the annual pack after being issued a partial refund for which I had fought for about 40 days, so my renewal was set for April 16 of this year.

Unfortunately, I had issues with the reception of only a handful of channels a fortnight back for which I had issued a complaint. The service engineer twice changed the STB and adjusted the dish but couldn't get the reception. After calling his supervisor, he went to the terrace a 3rd time and eventually resolved the issue. He informed me that the problem was with the receiver and dropped a bombshell by asking for an amount of over ₹300 as service charges. To my surprise, he informed me that my warranty had expired in the past week as it was over a year since I had made the purchase. It is something that the customer service should have informed me prior to sending the engineer in which case I wouldn't have even bothered calling the engineer as those 2-3 channels didn't matter to me much.

After an argument, I refused to make the payment in cash and the engineer departed. Nearly a week later, a customer service executive asked for a confirmation on whether my issue had been resolved. Assuming it to be a routine feedback call, I answered in the affirmative. However, it was only today that I realised that the call was simply a means to indirectly recover the money from me for my subscription ended abruptly after about 9 a.m. today, 2 weeks prior to the "next renewal" date.

I ain't bothering speaking to their customer service this time as with this experience I am ending my relationship with Airtel for good. This is simply my experience and mileage will vary for others, but I hope this feedback would be of some help to someone down the line.
