KOLKATA: Mobile operators will shortly urge the telecom department to tweak the national numbering plan to address dialing challenges that consumers are likely to face after the planned introduction of full Mobile Number Portability (MNP) next month, executives with two carriers told ET.

Full MNP would, typically, enable a user to retain the cellphone number even after relocating to a different city, but current telecom networks will need to be re-configured to treat his subsequent calls within the new city as 'local,' one of the executives quoted earlier said.

this facility already available I think bcoz my brother use Gujarat circle Vodafone number in Bihar as a local Bihar number. ....

Yes, its possible for an operator to assign a local plan of a different area to a phone. But the phone technically still remains in roaming.

All this suggests that mobile ops are trying to create hurdles for implementation of national MNP.
This is still not a full national MNP.

I think in airtel there is plan of 200 rs by which u can make ur number as a local number in the roaming circle...
