News Gujarat: 24-year-old gangrape victim asks HC to allow her to abort 27-week-old fetus

Twenty seven weeks into her pregnancy, a 24-year-old gang rape victim has approached the Gujarat High Court seeking permission to abort her unborn child. She has claimed that her unborn baby will not be accepted by her husband.

According to the current rules, it is illegal to abort a foetus if it's older than 20 weeks. The High Court has reserved the order in the case.

The woman had been abducted from her home in Surat and was gangraped by seven persons for close to six months. She managed to flee from her captors on March 14. Of the seven accused, three have been arrested so far.
