The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has asked broadcasters and multi-system operators (MSOs) to sign their interconnect agreements for Phase III of digital addressable system (DAS) by 21 June. If they fail to do so, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) will intervene. The issue of interconnection agreement was the focal point of discussion at the eighth Task Force meeting held on Wednesday. “TRAI has taken a stand that interconnection agreements must be signed by 21 June. The ministry was upset about the lack of progress on signing of interconnect agreements,” a member of the Task Force who attended the meeting told TelevisionPost.com. The ministry had earlier set 30 April as the cut-off date for signing interconnect agreements.

Okie. This seems to be a mandatory agreement between broadcasters and MSO so that consumers can opt a la carte as per their choices along with the regular packages.
