After the Seshachalam encounter, a huge hue-and cry was raised by neighboring Tamil Nadu and vehicles from Andhra and Andhra establishments there were targeted. But again yesterday, the police arrested a group of 74 red sanders coolies near Chinamandem village in Kadapa district. The laborers were from Salem district in Tamil Nadu and had hired a private bus. The coolies decorated the bus with a floral garland and posed as members of a marriage party. However, Kadapa district police, who got a tip-off about the movement of red sanders smugglers and workers, intercepted the bus and searched the luggage, only to discover axes, saw blades and other equipment that is used in the felling of trees. According to police, the laborers were well equipped to stay in the forest for a longer period. They were carrying food sufficient to last for a fort night. Kadapa police produced the arrested before the media on Friday evening.
