The Delhi High Court today permitted Sun Network’s radio networks Red FM and Suryan FM to participate in the mock auctions for FM radio Phase III, after the government responded that it would not be possible for them to delay the auctions further. The Court had asked the government yesterday if it would be possible to postpone the auctions. Red FM COO Nisha Narayanan confirmed the development to TelevisionPost.com and stated that Red FM would be part of the mock auctions. However, the decision on their participation in the main auctions that commences on 27 July will be taken by the Delhi High Court on 24 July. This came as an interim relief for the company as the Union government informed the bench comprising justice Badar Durrez Ahmed and Sanjeev Sachdeva about the inability to postpone the main FM auctions. Yesterday, the Delhi High Court observed that the Ministry of Home Affairs’ (MHA) process of granting the security clearance is vague and open to misuse, whereas the Madras High Court reserved its order on the petitions.
