Yes this is the scinario we r experiancing now in DTH industry as i feel. Only Tatasky is yet to be having a growth in adding Many channels . there might be 2-3 HD Channels to be added month by month by other DTHs. i dont think any other Oops will add many HD or SD Channels in days to come at lumpsum. even if they want to add 3-4 channels surely remove some and replace them with new News/regional/GEC channels. I think any DTH is not in the mood to invest more for adding channels only but they may get 3-4 TPs for backup purpose. this will make them secured for their existing channels and services. Also help to add more HD Channels .

1 thing they might do is adding few Regional channels and News channels by Region and regional. As we know North India is having a Common language [Almost] as Hindi , so if any new Hindi GEC starts then those will be added. Else DTH Companies will look for regional News/GEC channels on All India basis but more on Southern India.

Digital Cable competition also not much good comparatively what we expected.Even Digital cables also suffering with bandwidth problems and DTHs business coming very easily, thanks to digitization. Actually digitization is plus for DTH only in present scenario. So DTHs also thinking why they will invest more money..already they are getting huge business.

In all Entertainment and Media Industry as a whole is sinking and didn't seems to be competitive .

Its just the start of Digital Entertainment Era and the kind of attitude being shown by Operators is disappointing. Everyone was expecting Tata Sky to bring competition but they too failed along with ISRO to bring enough competition.

I see a very damp performance by all DTH operators in near future.

Even the digitisation in chennai is not implemented fully as there was a confusion among the LCOs who is their MSO.

For me its a damp growth and sluggish growth. The subscribers even have even got frustrated with some DTH operators but always buying a new connection and pilling up STB box is becomming a huge mess. so there should be something which gives Consumers some flexibilty. There is one more important factor which I have noticed is that many viewers rarely watch all channels and they are happy viewing few popular channels. So adding new channel we need to have viewers.

That i was telling always. No one watches all channels and even the same channel most of the time. every users have their own limits and time to watch. I think most users who wants new channels is for a Change .few channels r getting bored after watching few weeks or even days.

Not only Chennai, even Kolkata is still in Analog mode and i am sure even in some parts of Mumbai, Cable operators are using Analog Signals from nearby Thane and Navi Mumbai areas and transmitting them to Mumbai Suburb.

Tata sky was not expecting such type of growth in indian television market but from 2010, there is more competition and more growth so they want more space but unluckly they felt down to grow.
