They already made a profit
Very simple. They have fixed long term deal with broadcasters so if suppose with Indiacast they have a 3 year deal for all chs at Rs. XYZ per year then tata sky's main aim is to garner more revenue and hence by giving at low price they will get more takers which means more revenue while at higher price they will find less takers and hence less revenue. So don't think that they r making losses thru such offers. Its all about the revenue one can make thru any means, thru these offers they and us both get benefited. Every DTH should follow this policy. If suppose at Rs. 60 for a pack they just get 10 customers then by giving at Rs. 1 they will get 1000 or even more as all pounce upon such offers, revenue grows multilfold.

This is a very smart strategy of tata sky team

How?
By selling Rs.250 worth channels at just Rs.5?
Explain!
If 2 peoples subscribe 250 wala pack then TS will earn 500.

But if 100 people will subscribe the same pack then TS will earn 500 only but actually here they fooling broadcasters on the number of subscribers because carriage agreement get signs on the basis of user number.

Nahi bro, they have fixed deals for all broadcasters, no one goes for RIO or CPS scheme as it proves costly.

Fixed deal also have a expectation of number of viewers Bro. otherwise why any DTH won't put English channels in North started pack ? Because broadcasters wants to target the specific numbers here.

Broadcasters want revenue bro , both dth operator and distribution agent of broadcaaters take into account profit of both sides while finally deciding the fixed deal amount and its time period

Tata Sky was losing customers bcoz of being costly, with these schemes thry have managed to retain current customers, add new ones and generate high revenue. Videocon should also give such offers and get more revenue plus benefit us too

Well bro "Fixed Deal" means if i am broadcaster and u r a dth operator so if we mutually agree that Rs. 40 crore per year is the fixed deal amount for a validity of one year then u will pay me that amount while entering an agreement with me so broadcaster gets the monry beforehand for that time period and now its upto dth operator to recover that from us and generate profit too. When deal is about to expire then again negotiations start again.

Mostly today deals r done for one, two or even 3 years with popular broadcasters.

Hope u understood now
