News Government Bank Employees on Strike Today, Transactions Hit

Banking operations were hit partially today as a section of public sector banks' employees went on a strike across the country to protest violation of bilateral settlement agreement by associate banks of State Bank of India (SBI).

Some of the services, like cash handling at branch level and clearing of cheques were affected in the banks where presence of All India Bank Employees' Association (AIBEA) is strong.

Private sector banks and country's largest lender SBI continue to function normally.

Five subsidiaries of SBI are State Bank of Travancore, State Bank of Mysore, State Bank of Patiala, State Bank of Hyderabad and State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur.

no bro, they work until 7pm on most of the days and work on sats too and for every 3 years they are shifted to another branches so at times if they want to visit family they need sat and sun off.

Here in Mumbai i have not seen them working for so long their shift ends on 3pm and 2 hours they do backoffice work of auditing

Whenever I go home early I find all bank employees only. So I don't think they work so late.

WHY STRIKE ON 8th JANUARY?
Associate Banks such as SBH, SBM, SBT, SBBJ, SBP are signatories and covered by 10thBipartite Settlement.
So instead of implementing the signed Settlement, they are violating it in the name of C P S (Career Progression Scheme).
The CPS contains INCREASED Working Hours, Seven DAY Banking, Increased Work Level and Passing Powers, Transfer and Posting for Every Three Years including Rural/Semi Urban Centres LIKE OFFICERS , and Re Designation of SWO as Junior Assistant and working as Marketing Officers right from Day 1 with Target Fixedt etc.
For New RECRUITS from 2015 this is COMPULSORY. For the Existing Clerks they have give a CONSENT Letter that they are agreeing to this CPS. Pre-Printed Consent Letter is Sent to all Employees. If they give consent, additional allowance WILL BE GIVEN!! . .So naturally the Employees and the Unions have Rejected the offer. So, instead of Consent Employees have given the REFUSAL LETTER . So unions are agitating against this Forced implementation.

IF THIS IS ALLOWED to be implemented in Associate Banks who are signatories to the Bipartite settlement, then it will be followed in other Public Sector Banks also. They are using the Associate Banks as Their Testing Ground. Most importantly Associate Banks Employees have shown that by giving Money their hard earned rights like Woking hours, Service Conditions etc cannot be Compromised. Employees are saying NO to More Money in exchange of their rights!!! . .
This is the basic reason for the strike.
