Signal loss is present more in digital cable due to the distance, more the distance high the signal loss hence the repeaters are used to minimise the loss. Incase if one of the repeaters fail, then it is also a big headache for consumers as well as wire is cut.

But here if the repeater fails or needs replacement the cost is incurred by LCO, and the subscriber doesn't need to do anything. Normally the repeaters and amplifiers are changed before hand so that they don't malfunction. it depends on area to area.

In case of DTH LBN faults or dish change, alignment the cost is incurred by subscriber.

the LNB is in our property hence we have to bear the cost and what i stress is the repeaters are used to minimise the loss and you cant say that signal loss is not present entirely in cables.

my city was digitized in 2011 itself n mso is den. i never faced any kind of issue related to signal or poor picture quality. it was my lco who cut the connections whenever light went off. so i must say that mso is way better than the dth.

also about the cost, dths is very very costly. max. pack is around 600 rs. for sd channels and for hd channels it is very much high. adtv charges above 200 rs for just 28 hd channels.

signal loss is not present in cables. i used den for more than 4 years and i never faced any signal issue.

your LCO would take a connection from a box that is attached to poles, it is a repeater/amplifier for signal gain.
but i never faced any major signal issue that the wires were broken or cut from the poles.
also the pq was superior in den but i used it on crt tv and i was fully satisfied regarding the pq.
i was paying just 200rs for all the channels before most star india channels were put only on a la carte basis.

right now den have two plans - 260rs & 300rs including taxes
in 300rs. only u will get all channels including all star india channels.

Its not possible to hide customers in a DAS Digital Cable network. It functions the same way as DTH functions. there is nothing the LCO can do. In analog era such a thing was possible. But now Digital cable and DTH use same headend SMS and CRM systems.

Once a STB is installed and activated by CAF form, the STB is directly connected to the headend, same in DTH and Digital cable. So MSO/DTH knows how many subscribers it has, be it active or deactive.
In reality it wont.lco wants some more commission to pay their employees and mso also knows it.so lco never tell about their customers to mso.take example of hathway in Hyderabad.hathaway told to all lcos should fill up know your customer form.but lcos rejected it and they said they will switch to another mso. Finally hathway listening lcos words.

but it is mso who is giving direct services. so mso is aware how many active cards are there.
mso knows how many active users are there bcoz of the cards that is built in stbs.

Their customer ??? Hathway/DEN/In cable and I guess all MSO are encrypted services just like DTH. means a smart card is needed to watch channels. bhaskarkilli bro, when a person buys a new STB he needs to fill a CAF form, and submit ID proof along with it (same in case of DTH) so that the STB is paired with smart card and is activated. Until then one doesn't get any channels. What ur saying is abt extra 100+ channels in Hyderabad where people again need to submit KYC. (I am not talking abt this)

So the forms go to MSO office where they activate so they know which LCO has how many connections
