As per news now tata sky will add all new channels only in mpeg4 format. [currently all channels are in mpeg2 excluding HD]. But some user are still using mpeg2 boxes so call cc and check that is your box mpeg4 or mpeg2? Here is no. 18001806633 please lets us know how many members are using mpeg2 stb. My tata sky connection date is april 2011 but cc saying that its not mpeg4.

Well i think its better to know the STB in more detail. Its DVBS or DVBS2 . I think the 1st batch STBs might be DVBS only as that time there was no DVBS2 compression used by Tatasky. Mr .expert is making a mess of this by making elegations in other forum. People should understand that every MPEG 4 Box is not comaptible with DVBS2. Me too have MPEG4 FTA Box and its compatible with DVBS only. later i bought DVBS2 Compatible FTA Box. even we can find MPEG2 DVBS2 FTA Boxes in the market even though not in India , Half knowledge by such Experts makes a mess .:p

My old SD STB is MPEG2 so voted . I didnt have with me but i know it and bougt in early stages of Tatasky.

well as i know i have Thomson stb(made 2006) which supports mpeg2 pure,some days ago for check,i checked its all chips details which supports only mpeg2.

after that ts introduce 2008 ts+ which supports mpeg4 , details available on ts website.

then in about 2008,ts introduce humax stb which i think have mpeg2 support

in 2009 ts introduce first mpeg4 black metal stb(mpeg4 on front)

in last 2009 & upto today technicolr stb which is mpeg4 supports i m sure,because oneday i checked the ts dvbs2 tp on it.

its only my memory remembrance.

I have voted for MEPG 4 since i have TS+ and also i am able to view Star Sports 2...My alternative connection is also MPEG 4 since it is HD PVR....:)

cc have know only that ts is moving to Mpeg 4 but they don't know which box r Mpeg 4 or which is mpeg2, if u tell them i hv sd box then they r telling u need tobe change to view mpeg4 channels.

they will get record list very shortly on his portal(for cc purpose only) & offer also, we have to wait this week or maybe 15th of this month to get clear picture. ;)

my stb is made by humax and connection date is april 2011 but it not gives HD TP signal as well not airtel signal. Then its very hard to say how may are still using mpeg2.[might be its from old stock.]
