Bharti Airtel has started rolling out Aadhaar based e-KYC solution following the notification by the Department of Telecom, Government of India. Users will now be able to get hold of an Airtel SIM card without the need of any documents as they’ll be verified online based on Aadhaar card details.

Airtel’s e-KYC solution is now live in company operated stores across Delhi NCR. According to Airtel, the solution will be launched across the country over the next few days. Airtel says this is entirely a digital verification and fully secure. “Aadhaar based e-KYC for a mobile connection is a milestone for the telecom industry and will enhance customer experience through faster onboarding. A customer can now walk into an Airtel store and walk out with an active mobile connection in a matter of few minutes. The solution also complements the Government’s Digital India vision and will add to Airtel’s green initiatives,” Ajai Puri, Director, Operations (India and South Asia), Bharti Airtel said.

Users will need to submit/verify their Biometrics (iris scan / fingerprints) at the POS to buy new Airtel postpaid or prepaid connection. The details will be matched with UIDIA database and connection will be activated in the name of customer post validation. Airtel says that retailer at the point of sale will also be registered under Aadhaar, thereby making the process more secure.

Here you won't require any documents. You just have to tell your aadhar number and your biometric details will be fetched.

The same will be matched by taking your fresh Eye and thumb scanning on the spot. That's it. Verification Done.
