Bharti Airtel on Monday said that its customers roaming within India will enjoy free incoming calls and SMS starting April 1, 2017. The telco said that there will be no additional data charges on national roaming, and home data packs for customers will apply even while they roam across India.

The telco, in a statement, said that it will not charge any premium on outgoing calls while roaming across India.

“This marks the death of national roaming and the whole country will now be like a local network for our customers, who will not have to think twice before making or receiving calls or using data while traveling outside their home base. Airtel has again set the benchmark in delivering best in class value backed by a great network experience,” Gopal Vittal, MD & CEO (India & South Asia), Bharti Airtel said in a statement.

Bro this has not been clarified. In all news article there is ambiguity about this. According to you if someone take the plan under which local+Std are unlimited then he can roam through india on that same plan and not pay additional charges for calls when not in home circle?

Yes, that what the article mean.

and i have been using this free roam feature on my corporate connection. Now it seems to have extended to retail

But you can never trust Airtel. Let's wait till they make this as formal announcement.
