This Diwali, there is more than one reason for the team of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai (Star Plus) to celebrate. The show has been on air on 10 years and it completes 2500 episodes this week.

The producer Rajan Shahi told SpotboyE.com, “It’s a historic day for television industry because this is the first show that has completed 2500 episodes. It is the longest running daily soap in terms of episodes.”

I don't think that it will remain at top for long time, in my opinion tarak mehta ka ulta chashma will run longer.
That show is still alright and is literally responsible that SabTV is still running.

I didn't mean popularity, i worded it wrongly.
I meant it won't be longest running show since SAB cant afford shutting down that show and its cast won't leave either because none of them are mainstream actors(excluding jethalal).
On the other hand star can and will shut rishta if ratings drop below threshold.
Tarah mehta is only 200 episodes behind.
