Residents say they are ready to shift to set-top box, but it takes up to a week for its arrival. "I approached my cable operator but he says it will take a week from the day I provide Aadhaar card for the set-top box to arrive. But I will miss my favourite programmes till then," said S Kamatchi, a resident of Vandiyur.Cable television operators say that stopping of channels by the Madurai branch is unwarranted while residents in the rest of the state are able to watch them. They also claimed that Madurai branch had taken the decision on its own. "This is no need to stop them abruptly but the officials here use this as a tactic to force the customers to shift to set-top box. They failed to assess the glitches in shifting to the new mode and left the customers to suffer," said president of cable operators' guild A Pandi.
