Sony announced on Friday that Kenichirō Yoshida (pictured at right) will replace Kazuo Hirai as President and CEO of the company, effective April 1. Yoshida will add the two positions to his role as Director and Representative Corporate Executive Officer, and will step down from his positions of Executive Deputy President and Chief Financial Officer.
Hirai will step down from his positions of Representative Corporate Executive Officer and President and Chief Executive Officer, and will have the positions Director and Chairman.
Hirai proposed the nomination of Yoshida to the Sony Nominating Committee, which the committee approved on Friday. Hirai has held the position of President and CEO of Sonysince 2012.
