Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Tuesday announced that the State Transport Corporations will operate 11,959 special buses between November 6 and 16 to help commuters this Deepavali. Of this, 4,271 buses will originate from Chennai, while the remaining will ply from other parts of the State.
On November 6, a total of 1,106 special buses will be operated. The following day, 1,146 special buses would ply and the SETC would operate 825 and 1,194 special buses respectively on November 8 and 9 from Koyambedu. A total of 7,688 special buses would ply between important cities and towns between November 6 and 9.
The government has made arrangements for booking tickets online atwww.tnstc.infor trips beyond 300 km and 25 special booking centres would function at the CMBT, Koyambedu.
Likewise after Deepavali, from November 10 to 16, a similar number of special buses would be operated. In Chennai, the Metropolitan Transport Corporation would also run special buses. Passengers can call and register complaints regarding over charging by private omni buses on 044- 24794709, said an official release here.
