News 36.6-meter Giant Statue of Chairman Mao Seen in Central China

A giant golden sculpture of Chairman Mao is seen almost finished in Tongxu county in central China‘s Henan on January 4, 2016.

According to local villagers, the statue was fundraised mostly by some entrepreneurs, while villagers also contributed. Painted golden and 36.6-meter in height, the giant statue cost nearly 3 billion yuan (0.46 billion USD).
